He has produced several anthological poems such as Sungai Mekong 1972, Kembara Malam 1974, Wayang Pak Dalang 1977, Serpihan Dari Pedalaman 1979, Pesisir Waktu 1981, Rawa-Rawa 1992, Latiff Mohidin Sajak-sajak Dinihari 1996, and his latest anthology Latiff Mohidin Sajak-sajak Lengkap 1963-1994 (2007) which contains 299 poems written over a period of 30 years.

He is more widely known as a nature poet. His love for his motherland and the environment is deeply reflected in his literary works and paintings

His style is simple ; his used of words, crisp. Everyday objects such as an old pair of shoes, a photo-album or a bus are used to illustrate the deeper, complex meaning of his works.

The use symbolism in his poems is very much influenced by the French poets Baudelaine and Rimbaud while his philosophical works are translations from Tagore, Jalaludin Rumi, Omar Khayyam and Tao Te Ching

IN THE MIDST OF HARDSHIP

At dawn they returned home

their soaky clothes torn

and approached the stove

their limbs marked by scratches

their legs full of wounds

but on their brows

there was not a sign of despair

The whole day and night just passesd

they to brave the horrendous flood

in the water all the time

between the bloated carcasses

and tiny chips of tree barks

desperately looking for their son's

albino buffalo that was never found

They were born in the midst of hardship

and grew up without a sigh or a complaint

now they are in the kitchen,

making jokes while rolling their cigarette leaves

SETANDINGKAH KITA ???

Pada agungnya kasih Laila & Majnun
Diagungkan lagi si Rumi & Juli
Tidakkah kita terfikir ?
Berapa jauhkah jaraknya Adam & Hawa sebelum bertemu ?
Layakkah kita jika dibandingkan mereka ??

Manusia mengejar cinta
Kita lupa pada diri-Nya
Tiada balas dan alpa
Kita rasai sesuatu kurnia daripada Tuhan
Hati dan perasaan...
Tidak mengenal erti dosa dan pahala

Alasan untuk berkorban
Tidak pernah menjadi penghalang
Bezanya, tanah yang kita pijak
Tak pernah menjadi pemisah

Inginku teriak pada semua
Agar mereka sedar kesilapan mereka
Halang ! Halang ! Halanglah mereka
yang menghancurkan pena didada syahadah

Inginku jadi seorang pelukis
yang bisa menterjemah seraut wajah
Wajah ibu yang mengharap
Harapkan terbaik, harapkan yang molek

Tapi, yang ada dalam diri ini
Hanya sekeping hati
Dan kepada Tuhan aku memohon
Agar semua sedar
Tiada setanding cinta kita
Dengan cinta Adam & Hawa
Lupakan Laila & Majnun. . .

What If I can't make you smile today,

What If I lost my memory of you,
Will you make me remember each and everything that we had??

What If there is someone better than me out there,
